Emergencies are accepted any time our clinic is open. If you feel your pet is ill or sustains an injury, please call us (719) 495-1457 or come to the hospital immediately. Calling in advance is suggested as we may advise you on your particular situation as well as prepare for your arrival.

A veterinarian and trained personnel are on duty 6 days a week. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency care, do not hesitate to seek help immediately.

What if I'm Not Sure It's an Emergency?

While this is not a comprehensive list, if your notice any of the following signs or symptoms, please bring your pet in immediately, or visit one of our nearby affiliated emergency hospitals.

  • Any significant change in behavior
  • Challenging labor (prolonged straining without delivering puppies or kittens)
  • Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
  • Distended (swollen) and tense abdomen
  • Extreme pain causing whining or shaking
  • Hemorrhage (bleeding that won’t stop)
  • Loss of consciousness or extreme lethargy
  • Pale gums
  • Paralysis
  • Seizures or disorientation
  • Straining/inability to urinate or defecate
  • Toxicity - ingested a foreign body, harmful chemicals, human medications or toxic plants
  • Trauma from a fall or being hit by moving vehicle
  • Uncontrolled or prolonged vomiting and/or diarrhea
  • Weakness or inability to stand
