Veterinarians in Falcon, CO

Anita Baker: Veterinarians in Falcon, CO

Anita Baker, DVM

Dr. Baker’s compassion for animals and love for science started at a young age, compelling her to become a veterinarian. A native of Hutchinson, Kansas, she received both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Kansas State University. She has spent her career working in general practice where her areas of interest are internal medicine and emergency medicine.

Realizing her dream of ownership came in 2001 when Dr. Baker opened Animal Hospital of Falcon. After close to 20 years at the helm, Dr. Baker sold the practice in May of 2019 to Dr. Lee Wilwerding, owner of several practices in the area, including Powers Pet Emergency and Specialty. This transition allows her a bit more time with family, including her husband, two grown children, horses, dogs, and grandkids. Dr. Baker remains an associate veterinarian because, as much as she enjoys the patients, she appreciates the relationships with their owners just as much.

Sarah Leyman, DVM

Dr. Leyman grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Amherst College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, followed by four years at The Ohio State University, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. To further her knowledge, Dr. Leyman completed a 1-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at a 24-hour emergency and specialty practice in New Jersey before joining us.  She enjoys all areas of general practice but has a special interest in preventive care, exotic animals, and ophthalmology.

Dr. Leyman enjoys being in the great outdoors any chance she gets, especially if it involves hiking, mountain biking, or skiing. She also likes to spend time with family, including her three cats and one dog. When she isn't immersed in the Colorado mountains, she takes great joy in creating delicious meals in the kitchen.

Alexandra Bush

Alexandra Bush, DVM

Dr. Bush was born in Witchata Falls, Texas but being part of a military family meant she moved around a lot as a child. In fact, with all the relocation, it was her pets that were the only constant in her life. Because of this, Dr. Bush wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She also really enjoys solving the mystery of what’s wrong when a pet is ill, especially because they can’t talk, well, not in the conventional sense.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Colorado State University, Dr. Bush has focused her practice on primary care. She truly enjoys supporting the human-animal bond through preventive care.

Outside of the clinic she spends time riding her horse, baking, doing crafts and woodworking. Dr. Bush’s critters include 3 dogs, 1 cat, 2 horses, a pony, and chickens.
